Nakima Benjamin is a New York based fashion stylist and creative consult. She has a knack for describing the look and feel of the slinky clothes that saunter down the runway. Ms. Benjamin was on hand at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week and lent me her expert eye while attending several fab. shows. Check out Nakima's reviews of the Fall 2011 collections!

This season there is something for everyone in Tibi's collection.  The show started with looks for the pretty tomboy -- menswear inspired pieces, such as oversized jackets, were softened with bubblegum pink accessories or a mid-calf pink dress in a silky chiffon.  Then we moved to roccoco inspired pieces in navy and gold -- perfect for the girl who likes to look feminine but not traditional nor cookie cutter.  The last few looks were not ordinary by any means but they were downright pretty...the red pieces in particular were absolutely beautiful!  Other standout features of the show were the pointy toed flat shoes with a silvery glitter finish, the messy ponytails that helped the looks from becoming too stuffy, and the natural makeup used to enhance the faces of an already gorgeous group of girls (kudos to the casting!).  The result?  P-R-E-T-T-Y.

  1. Great, I am totally one of those girls who wants to look feminine but with a little masculine flair thrown in. I would love to visit fashion week one day! I have friends who work on some of the shows and I'm trying to get an in with them!
