MET Gala Makeup-Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington's flawless face stood out just as much as her gorgeous crimson draped Thakoon for The Gap dress at Monday night's MET Gala. Celebrity makeup artist Carola Gonzales created Washington's dazzling look that highlighted the deep red hue of her outfit and bronzed complimenting accessories. I love finding out what products are used on celebrities with darker skin tones as it's always a challenge to figure out which shades, products and brands work best for a wider skin color spectrum. The makeup guru has also worked with The Office star and fellow Indo, Mindy Kaling, at this year's Golden Globe Awards and for a recent appearance on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, so she definitely knows what shades work for us tanner tones.

Here's what Gonzales did to achieve Kerry's sultry stare:

SKIN: After moisturizing the skin, Gonzales applied Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer in SC-6. "This concealer is great for darker skin tones. I use it on most of my African American clients. I also use it on Zoe Saldana," she says. Gonzales then applied makeup artist favorite, Giorgio Armani Luminous Foundation in shade #11 and accentuated her cheeks with Stila Convertible Cream Blush in Rose.

EYES: To create her smoky stare, Gonzales amped up the eye with a blackened outline. She used MAC Carbon Black Eye Shadow all over the eyelid and the outer bottom lash line and lined the inside of the bottom eye and top of the upper lash line with MAC Black Eye Liner. She created an even more dramatic eye by adding MAC #1 Fake Lashes.

LIPS: To contrast the intense eye and not take away from the dress, Gonzales kept the star's lips almost bare. All she added on was a swipe of MAC Cremesheen Glass in Boy Bait.
