Get the look: Maggie Gyllenhaal at the "Nanny McPhee Returns" Premiere

Maggie Gyllenhaal looked retro sweet at the premiere of her new movie "Nanny McPhee Returns" starring Emma Thompson. COVERGIRL makeup artist created her 1920's-1930's inspired look. Stern says she wanted to combine a smoky eye with an added electric element and a deeply stained lip.
Here's what Stern did to create Gyllenhaal's standout red carpet look:
SKIN: "I started by prepping the skin with Lavender [Hydrating] Mist by Jurlique and moisturized with SK11 Facial Lift Emulsion. Next, I primed her skin with COVERGIRL & Olay Simply Ageless Serum-Primer and sparingly used Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation", Stern says. She then blushed the cheek with Chantecaille Aqua Blush in "Daring" with a powder blush overtop. Finally, to set the look, Sterns says, "I used La Mer Treatment Powder Foundation just in the t-zone".

EYES: Stern gave the actress an updated smokey eye using purple shades which brought out the star's gorgeous baby blue eyes. To create the sultry stare Stern says she "smoked the eye out with Shu Uemura IR Purple 795 Pressed Eyeshadow".  The celebrity makeup guru then lined the top lash line with Shiseido Automatic Fine Eyeliner in brown and smudged out the bottom lash line with COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast Eye liner in "Violet Voltage". To add even more drama she swiped two coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Brown onto her lashes with a little black mascara on the ends.

LIP: Stern gave her already defined lips a deep pout using the new shade of COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain in Saucy Plum

Hair Play by Shu Uemura & V Magazine

Shu Uemura Art of Hair stylist, Conrad Dornan, and model, Coco Young teamed up to make a dreamy, interesting interview/hair tutorial video with V Magazine. Young, a model and film/photography aficionado, is inspired by legendary fashion photographer Helmut Newtown and his photo book provides the style inspiration for the hair looks created in the video. Please note, the photos in the book do contain nudity (Newton was known for his nude studies of women). Also please note, you're not really sure where the video is going and what the overall feel of it is until a few minutes in. The tutorial Dornan does of how to create seriously beautiful hair styles is well worth the few minutes of awkward interview time. Check out the beautifully wrapped-around braid and 70's inspired siren curls Dornan creates. I love the hair art and he makes it look so easy to recreate! What do you think of the video?

Golden Globes Glamour: Christina Hendricks

Mad Men's resident vixen, Christina Hendricks looked particularly voluptuous (to say the least) at this year's Golden Globes. While I'm not sure Joan Holloway (despite loving the attention) would approve of her overly revealing peachy-salmon Christian Siriano gown, no one can dispute how flawless her makeup was. She managed to perfect retro yet modern crimson lips, warm glowy skin and subtle eye makeup that allowed us to see what the former Sterling Cooper head secretary might look like with a 2010 update. Makeup Artist, Vanessa Scali, created the newlywed's look and said she went for "effortless and chic: sheer satin eyes, pink milk-maid cheeks and a siren mouth." In true Mad Men style, Scali created the perfect contrast between an "angelic innocent face with a sexy edge of a strong mouth". The beauty pro reveals what she did to make Hendrick's sizzle on the red carpet.

Skin Care
Shu Uemura Depsea Hydrability Moisturizing Cream "This cream seriously hydrates, yet disappears into the skin leaving the skin feeling fresh and smooth," said Scali.
Foundation
Scali said, "Applied minimal foundation, because Christina has nearly flawless skin." Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation in #974 was used.

Concealer
Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof in Porcelain used under the eyes

Blush
Shu Uemura Égérie Satin Radiant Stick in Blush on the apples of the cheeks

Eye Shadow
"I used Shu Uemura Égérie Satin Radiant Stick in Highlight all over the eye (from lash line to brow) then swept it down to highlight the very peak of the cheekbones," said Scali.

Eye Liner
To define and elongate the lashline, Scali used Shu Uemura Drawing Pencils in ME Black 01. She also lined the inside rim of the eyes with Shu Uemura Eye Light Pencil White, to open up the eyes.

Mascara
Shu Uemura Ultimate Expression Mascara in Black

False Lashes
To give Hendricks luxurious lashes, Scali added Shu Uemura Flare Eyelashes Black and finished them with a coat of Shu Uemura Ultimate Expression Mascara in Black.

Lips
Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited in #134
